WATCH: Sen. Risa Hontiveros Once Starred in The Sound of Music

See the Von Trapp kids of the '80s.

Cast of Repertory Philippines’ The Sound of Music in 1980

(SPOT.ph) Press conferences and exclusive interviews have been held for the Philippine leg of the West End production of The Sound of Music which is set to open in September. We probably won’t be able to stop ourselves from humming "Sixteen Going on Seventeen" under our breath when curtains open at The Theatre at Solaire in Parañaque City.

There’s another thing that’s not helping in tempering our excitement—a short clip featuring the 1980 Repertory Philippines cast of the beloved musical. It shows the cute and young versions of Philippine theater greats like Lea Salonga (9), Monique Wilson (10), and Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo (17) singing the Von Trapp kids’ popular song “Do-Re-Mi.” In case you missed it, Sen. Risa Hontiveros is there too as Louisa von Trapp. The video found in the bowels of the Internet featured their guest appearance on the now defunct noontime show Student Canteen.

The London West End production of The Sound of Music runs from September 27 to October 15 at The Theater at Solaire, Solaire Resort and Casino, 1 Aseana Avenue, Parañaque City. Tickets, priced from P1,500 to P7,000, are available through Ticketworld.
