(SPOT.ph) When Madagascar—the Dreamworks movie, not the island country—was released in 2005, its catchy tunes, vibrant visuals, and dancing lemurs and penguins kept kids and kids-at-heart entertained. It went on to become a full-on franchise with two sequels and a special spin-off featuring, well, more dancing penguins. This year, Madagascar: A Musical Adventure is set to premiere in Manila on August 2 at the Maybank Performing Arts Theater. It's the perfect excuse to babysit your nephews and nieces—even those as young as three years old!

Madagascar: A Musical Adventure follows the journey of Alex the Lion; Marty the Zebra; Melman the Giraffe, and Gloria the Hippo as they break free from the Central Park Zoo and explore the world outside. It is written by Kevin Del Aguila, with original music and lyrics by George Noriega and Joel Someillan.

The staging of this kid-friendly musical also marks the launch of Atlantis Theatrical Entertainment Group's new division catering to families, young adults, and children—Atlantis Imaginarium Young Theatre.
Madagascar: A Musical Adventure opens on August 2 at the Maybank Performing Arts Theater, BGC Arts Center, 26th Street corner 9th Avenue, Bonifacio Global City. For updates, follow Atlantis Imaginarium Young Theatre on Facebook.
