(SPOT.ph) When it comes to things that can keep you up at night, a cup of coffee doesn't hold a candle to the string of words you've long wanted to say to someone, but never said out loud. Sure, there are ways to go about it, i.e. therapy or drunken heart-to-heart sessions, but there's also Geloy Concepcion, a U.S.-based Filipino artist, photographer, and documentarian.
To the Instagram universe, Concepcion has become an option for strangers to reshare anonymous phrases, mostly with heart-tugging themes of fear, regret, love, hope, and promise. Through his project Things You Wanted to Say But Never Did, he uses his photographs, scratches out the faces, and "vandalizes" them with anonymously submitted phrases such as, "I used to have so much potential, and I don't know what has happened to me" and "What if the chances that I let slip away are the only chances I have."
After being the platform-within-a-platform where unnamed people can share their inner monologues for the last three years, Concepcion turns his online project into an interactive physical journal of the same name.

What We Know About Geloy Concepcion's Things You Wanted to Say But Never Did
Things You Wanted to Say But Never Did is an interactive photographic book that also serves as the owner's diary. There are certain thought-provoking prompts inside the book, e.g. "Some of the deepest wounds are the ones we inflict on ourselves. Imagine you could go back in time to meet a younger version of yourself. What would you apologize for? You are worthy of forgiveness, it's time to make amends."
Another one goes, "People use buzzwords as shortcuts to avoid truly engaging with each other's emotional experiences. Reflect on a time when you felt unheard, and write about how you would have preferred your listener to have responded."
These hard-hitting questions are followed by blank lines where the owner can write down their answers, reflections, and realizations—if they are emotionally ready to do so. Don't worry, this is ungraded. After all, Things You Wanted to Say But Never Did, according to Geloy's foreword, should serve as an "invitation to spend some time with yourself—to forgive, to heal, to hope—and to connect with others."
Geloy Concepcion's Things You Wanted To Say But Never Did is priced at P968 (paperback) and is available for pre-order via Fully Booked. The other stores you can purchase from are Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Million!, Target, Bookshop, Indiebound, Kobo, Christianbook, Apple Books, and Google Play.
