LOOK: You Can Now Stroll Past Local Flora and Fauna at This QC Circle Underpass

(SPOT.ph) If you’ve ever visited the Quezon Memorial Circle by foot, you’ll know that the walk to get there via the underpass connecting from Quezon City Hall isn’t exactly the most exciting. It used to be a long stretch of corridor with blank walls—and the entrance leading to the underpass wasn't too welcoming to look at, either.

We're here to report that times have changed with the Quezon City Government's launch of "QC Underparadisso" on April 26. The Elliptical Underpass in Central has now joined the likes of Legazpi Underpass and Lagusnilad Underpass, with its colorful, larger-than-life murals.

Wildlife comes alive at the Elliptical Underpass in Quezon City

QC Underparadisso is a giant mural painting featuring the most popular Philippine flora and fauna, some of which are endangered. 

Each portion of the mural is teeming with life. Bright shades of green form the lush foliage of the jungle, but it's the animals that really catch your eye. Among the species featured are the Philippine eagle, tamaraw, pangolin, tarsier, and more.

A quick response (QR) code is also provided for passersby to scan at the entrance to gain more knowledge about the endangered species. The Quezon City Government created this project with high hopes to utilize the public spaces in the city to foster environmental awareness through art.

The giant artwork was collectively illustrated by internationally-acclaimed muralist A.G. Sano, the Art Atak team, Cosmic Clint, and RKTRS Art Collective. It took them a month to complete the project. We have them to thank for a better walking experience from Quezon City Hall to Quezon Memorial Circle (and vice versa).
