(SPOT.ph) After its success on the grounds of Ayala Triangle Gardens, the pop-up library, The Book Stop, has now moved to the historic walled city of Intramuros in Manila. Book lovers can find the bite-sized (but comprehensive) shelf at Plaza Roma, right in front of the majestic Manila Cathedral.
Launched on April 23, the Book Stop is on a mission to encourage reading and a passion for literature. It also aims to "share ideas, one book at a time" through an exchange of both books and ideas through conversations. Unlike libraries that often require fees or membership, it brings the books closer to the community through a set-up in public spaces. And unlike libraries where "silence please" is the number one rule, the Book Stop encourages poetry readings and even blind dates to pull in more people to check out its shelves.
Admission to The Book Stop is free on a first-come, first-served basis. It is at Plaza Roma, Intramuros from May 14 to July 8.
