Relive your childhood days at Rizal Park this weekend
Don't you miss playing patintero?
(SPOT.ph) Gone are the days when kids would climb trees, run around with makeshift kites, or play patintero under the full moon. Who needs those when they have all the games on their smartphones or tablets?
This weekend, kids and kids-at-heart are called to bring back the great years of just running around and spending a fun-filled afternoon in a grassy field. The final leg of Arts in Public Spaces will hold a kite-making session and Philippine games from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on July 9 and 10 at the Binhi ng Kalayaan Garden in Rizal Park.
The best thing about it? It's free!
Arts in Public Spaces started on May 28 with a series of activities lined up every weekend. They've held workshops on baybayin writing, silkscreen printing, ballpen art, and origami-making. There were also booths for those interested in getting a henna tattoo or trying their hand at chalk art. The project is part of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts' efforts to bring the arts closer to the people.
Rizal Park is along Roxas Boulevard, Ermita, Manila City. For more information, visit Arts in Public Spaces’ event page.
