Bookworms, Your Favorite Pop-Up Library Just Moved to a New Location
Can you guess where it is?
(SPOT.ph) The pop-up library, The Book Stop Project, has been around the Metro—in Makati, Bonifacio High Street, as well as in Intramuros and Quiapo. Now, book lovers can find the library at the Cultural Center of the Philippines Complex, right behind the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) ASEAN Park. The project encourages reading by way of borrowing or reading books from the library in exchange of another book.
On his Facebook wall, CCP Vice President and Artistic Director Chris Millado shared photos of the pop-up library as it was being set up at the CCP grounds, as well as its first visitors—children who sold sampaguita garlands. According to Millado, the steps of The Book Stop Project can also be used as "a viewing area for storytelling sessions, poetry reading, juggling, and street performances."
Millado also encourages book donations by setting up a book drop drum, located at the CCP Little Theater entrance.
Bruce Tyron Ingat, Project Coordinator of The Book Stop, told SPOT.ph that they are also organizing pocket events such as a Harry Potter Quiz Night, a Zine Making Workshop, and The Book Stop Photowalk.
“We would like to invite everyone to join us in sharing ideas, one book at a time at The Book Stop CCP. We also prepared events for our stay in CCP and please watch for our first event this June 12, [called] Blind Date with a Book,” he said.
The Book Stop is at the Cultural Center of the Philippines Complex until August 25. For more information, visit The Book Stop Project’s Facebook Page.
