Artist Creates Quirky Portraits to Help Raise Funds for Father's Hospital Bills
Tyang Karyel's dad is battling COVID-19.
(SPOT.ph) The COVID-19 pandemic has affected the country in more ways than one. Contractual workers are suddenly jobless, small businesses are closing down, and COVID-19 tests are too expensive for someone on minimum wage. Artist Tyang Karyel, for example, needs all the help she can get for her father's hospitalization bills that have now reached more than P3.5 million. She's raising funds by creating portraits in exchange for any cash contribution.
Tyang Karyel is a regular exhibitor at out-of-the-box galleries like Vinyl on Vinyl. Her works often evoke childhood memories from mundane things like plastic toys or candies, rendered in bright colors and squiggly lines. She also has a few works up for sale through Art in the Park Online. Her portraits, which you can find on her Instagram @tyangdynasty, have the same quirky style.
To get your portrait created, send an Instagram message to @tyangkaryel with a photo for reference and a screenshot of your donation (yes, she can also draw your pets!). Any cash contribution can be done through BPI account 8339-4427-63 with the account name Sofia Corazon Matias Santos.
