Does Lorenzo's Way hit the SPOT?

With its menu composed of the bestsellers from some of Manila's most frequented restaurants, how could Lorenzo's Way go wrong? The LJC group's latest creation offers the chocolate eh from Café Adriatico, Larry's Bangus Belly from Larry's Café Bar, and the lamb couscous from Bistro Burgos–all in one place.

WHAT TO ORDER: While it looks ordinary on the menu, the Baked Cheesy Spinach and Banana Blossom Dip (P225) is worth the price, the creamy spinach working surprisingly well with the banana blossom and grated Parmesan.

The Coco Loco Prawns
(P550), originally from Ang Hang, are a delicious combination of lemongrass and coconut milk, the balance between the two flavors resulting in a taste that's just right and not too overwhelmingly rich.

Cooked to crispy perfection and served with Pampanga-style balo-balo, the Binukadkad na Plapla (P385) is an old reliable from Bistro Remedios, good for sharing.

Vegetarians–and even meat-lovers–will like the Teriyaki Mushroom and Tofu Kebab (P195), the shiitake mushrooms and tofu perfectly grilled and drizzled with teriyaki sauce.

The Bamboo Rice (P240) from Abe works well with most of the restaurant's dishes, the subtle flavors from bamboo shoots, shrimps, chicken, and wood ear mushrooms served in a large piece of actual bamboo.

WHEN TO GO: Lunchtime is usually busy with the Makati working crowd, and the restaurant gets pretty full during the dinner rush. Call ahead to make sure you'll get a table.

WHAT WE THINK: Lorenzo's Way offers tried-and-tested dishes at a reasonable price, so it's likely to be around for years to come.
