SPOT.ph Roadtests Oishi WheatNiks Mocha Cookies
Coffee as a cookie did not disappoint
(SPOT.ph) Here we are again, on the lookout for new food items on the shelves of your local convenience stores and supermarkets. This week we found Oishi’s WheatNiks: Mocha Cookies. We must admit that we care for how the packaging looks because it indicates that the product makers took time to think about what they’re selling, and we’re here to check if the contents live up to the glitz of the wrap.
Price and availability: P4.75 for 28 grams, at supermarkets.
Best for: Quiet Sunday afternoons with a book or a late midnight snack while watching some movie or TV show. It’s a tad bland when you bite it but the flavor kicks in as you chew, which is great for something to nibble on while you’re engrossed with words or being whisked away in visual fiction.
Best with: Milk would be a complementing creamy comfort for the otherwise dry cookie. We can imagine you on the porch with a book in your hand, this on a small plate, a glass of cold milk, and maybe a summer hat?
Tastes like: Coffee with a hint of chocolate, which is mocha. It’s kind of hard to get that classic taste wrong.
Manage your expectations: There are roughly 10 cookies inside the bag, about 2 inches in diameter. It’s not fancy coffee biscotti but this is a pretty good deal for P4.75.
Yay or nay: Yay. It is what it claims to be and we’re happy when we get what we pay for.
