(SPOT.ph) Amid the slapdash establishments in the building, The Farm Organics sticks out like a dapper gentleman in the company of men wearing bleached maong cut-offs and flipflops. A metal-plated signboard, gorgeous wooden tables and chairs, and an embossed logo on the cement wall keep the shop looking extra elegant while maintaining a natural and casual aesthetic.

The owners want the look natural in keeping with the organic theme of the menu.

The simplicity in the interiors extends to the menu, which is written on a chalkboard over the counter. The selection is limited, but thoughtful and will still have customers torn over what to get or whether to get everything. Beef, of course, is given prominence on the list. The Farm Organics is owned by a family who has been raising free-range cattle since 1976. In 2011, they branched out to supplying frozen organic meats for restaurants and grocery stores, but it was only this year that they opened the increasingly popular steak and burger joint.

Kesong Puti Burger

The Farm covers the staple Bacon Cheeseburger (P340), but the more adventurous-especially those who make the trek all the way to Alabang-might want to sample the creamy Avocado Burger or earthy Vegan Mushroom Burger. The Kesong Puti Burger (P280) with grilled sesame buns, crisp lettuce, and tender beef patty pairing beautifully with the velvety melted white cheese, will make your mouth water. As you automatically make a gesture for the ketchup bottle, you'll realize that The Farm doesn't offer any additional condiments apart from those they've already stuffed in between the bread. A clever way to let the customers enjoy the natural flavors of beef.

Mouthwatering steak with the fat served on the side like an extra thrill

Then, there are the steaks, the restaurant's piece de resistance: gorgeous slabs of premium quality meat from grass-fed, antibiotic- and hormone-free cows. Filet Mignon (P600), New York (P495/regular, P590/large) and Rib-eye (P790/regular, P895/large) are served with a single side dish (your choice between organic fried egg, rice, organic lettuce, or mashed potatoes). The beef comes sliced, displaying the crusty sear, and laying on a shallow pool of its natural jus, making sauce or gravy optional. The fat from the cut is sliced off then crisped up separately, giving the unresisting meat extra succulence.

Choco Chip Cheesecake Cookies and Crosanuts

As a fitting finish to a decadent meal, The Farm stocks its chiller with cakes, cupcakes, and cookies. The Oreo and Choco Chip Cheesecake Cookies (P70) and the Chocolate or Glazed Crosanuts (P60/small) may help balance out the richness of steak. For something even lighter, they have a line of fresh fruit smoothies, the most exciting of which is the Berries & Banana (P140).

The mason jar can’t seem to contain this Berries & Banana shake.

Just when you think that nothing could be more indulgent and satisfying than a juicy piece of steak, here comes The Farm which offers something better-and healthier.
