(SPOT.ph) The playful colorful palette, nautical-inspired décor, and feel-good music bring California straight to Manila. CaliBurger is a hip new joint ready to serve the burger-hungry with California-styled sandwiches that reflect that carefree spirit unique to the West Coast. The first branch is a laidback spot in the posh Century City Mall in Makati.
Really adds to that beach feel
The airy space gives it a boardwalk vibe
The selections are neither overwhelming nor intimidating-laidback, we said-and the staff is ready to make recommendations if you feel a little lost. On top of the list of must-tries is the Cali Double Burger (P295). Two all-beef patties with melted real American cheese sit atop red tomatoes, pickles, and crisp iceberg lettuce. Though a bit crumbly, the patties are tasty. The soft, freshly baked buns, however, cushion the texture and complement the rich beef flavors.

A lighter but still satisfying option is the Cali Cheeseburger (P225) with its juicy beef patty and sharp cheddar cheese. Those who want a slightly healthier burger can go for the Low Carb Style which has crisp lettuce for buns and a top-grade chicken (P195 to P330) patty instead of beef.
Whichever burger you go for, you can pair it with seasoned fries (P75). For a stronger kick, upgrade to the Wild Style Fries: drizzled with melted real American cheese and topped with sweet grilled onions, pickles, and the signature Cali sauce. Grab a table at the al fresco deck with an ice-cold beer (P99) or fresh milkshakes (chocolate, vanilla, strawberry/P125 to P150) to really get that sunny California feel.
Bright colors evoke summer
A second branch in Timog, Quezon City just opened on February 19, while another joint in Boracay is set to open this year. CaliBurger's formula is reminiscent of another California-based burger joint, but we paraphrase the L.A. Times: "They've made tweaks to the original that can be considered an improvement." Besides, they landed in the Philippines first.
