CHECK IT OUT: Café Jeepney's Insider Gourmet (Binondo)
The taste of Chinatown at InterContinental Manila
G/F InterContinental Manila, 1 Ayala Avenue, Makati City
Tel. No. 793-7000 local 771
(SPOT.ph) Cafe Jeepney is going on another ride and this time, it’s somewhere closer to home. InterContinental Manila’s signature buffet has always highlighted local regional fare like that of Aklan, Batangas, and Pampanga, but for March, Binondo-shortlisted for CNNGo’s World’s Best Chinatown list and also featured on Anthony Bourdain’s show, No Reservations-will take center stage as the hotel launches its Insider Gourmet series.
"Inside Gourmet is a spin-off of the Stopover," says Teri Flores, Director of Public Relations for InterContinental Manila. "We decided to rename it ’Insider Gourmet.’ InterContinental is big on sharing local knowledge and experiences [with] the guests. What we're planning to do is to not only feature what we have to offer within the hotel but to also bring in what's in the local community and offer it to the guests. We're going to be hyping destinations as well as cuisines."
Steamed Spare Ribs
Sweet and Sour Fish Fillet
Insider Gourmet’s Binondo Edition will be featured in Cafe Jeepney’s buffet until March 21. Dishes like Stuffed Squid with Garlic Butter, Sweet and Sour Fish Fillet, Stir Fried Seafood with XO Sauce, Szechuan Beef with Snow Peas and Crisp Garlic, Braised Eggplant with Tofu and Salted Fish, and Almond Jelly Lychee will be available. "It's going to be a 10-day cycle, and what is served today may be different from the one tomorrow," says Flores. The buffet, available for lunch and dinner, costs P1,650++ per person.
