( It was every bit Bernadette Acuña and Rowena Vera's intention to bring Philadelphia's well-loved cheesesteaks closer to home. The sisters drew inspiration from gastronomic indulgences throughout Vera's time in Pennsylvania, and translated each idea-Bernadette, mainly, she’s a food technologist-into delectable menu offerings that Filipinos can enjoy in the company of friends and family. Hence, RBy's Steak and Shake.



"We're hoping the Filipino palate would be open to go beyond the typical burger or rice meal, thus, we bring in the Philly cheesesteak at affordable prices and reasonable serving sizes as another option," says Bernadette.


If there’s a testament to how Filipinos are starting to like sandwiches, albeit gradually, Bernadette says it was at the recently concluded Quezon City Food Festival held to commemorate the city's 75th Foundation Day where RBy's cheesesteaks were a big hit among foodies alike. They served almost 300 sandwiches that day.


Cheesesteak Roll


Thankfully, RBy's specialties may be enjoyed year-round. Diners can kick off a meal with the Cheesesteak Roll (P145), five logs packed with tender slices of sautéed steak and served with a side of warm, melted cheese.


American Philly Cheesesteak


Provolone Philly Cheesesteak


Their Philly Cheesesteaks, are of course, the focal point, each composed of specialty cheeses depending on preference: Classic (P160), American (P185), Provolone (P195), and Hoagie (P190). Customers can request an "overload" (read: more meat) by adding P80. Acuña stresses that these specialty sandwiches make use of only lean sirloin meat and feature a hefty serving of specialty cheese and caramelized onions.



Knock Out


RBy’s menu includes another sandwich variety: burgers, an impressive suite of hefty, juicy sammies. Their bestseller, the Knock Out (P195) is a welcome, mouthwatering mess with the addition of crunchy bacon strips and onion rings atop a bed of homemade beef patty and vegetables. Other varieties to try include the Skyscraper (P215), featuring a stack of three steak burger patties with cheese, and the Philly Steak Burger (P110), a single steak burger served with cream cheese, lettuce, and tomato.


Penne Vodka


One of the latest additions to their menu is the Penne Vodka (P160), a tomato-based pasta topped with slices of sausage and flavored with a bit of garlic, basil, cream, and vodka. Another available option is the Philly Alfredo (P145), or fettuccine pasta tossed in a savory concoction of cream sauce, mushroom, and bacon.


Classic Shake


Diners can end the meal on a sweet note with RBy's range of thick, creamy milkshakes. Classic Shakes (P125) include Vanilla, Strawberry, Chocolate, and Caramel, while bestselling variants under Specialty Shakes (P165) include Salted Caramel Pretzel, Choco Hazelnut, and Banoffee.


RBy’s may have intended to take us to Philadelphia, but they’ve gone much farther with good food that goes past geography-and it’s right here in the city.
