Yay or Nay? Red wine now comes as a powdered mix

It is sugar-free and alcohol-free.

(SPOT.ph) Amid the breakthroughs of powdered food and wine-flavored ice cream comes this new "biofood" that promises the benefits of red wine without the light-headedness, the calories, and the sugar.

An Israeli company called BioHarvest has launched VINIA Red Grape Powder, which claims to have chemical compounds like resveratrol, quercetin, tannins, catechins, anthocynanins, and all the other health-helping ingredients in wine-except the hangover. One serving, according to a report in Food News International, is equivalent to the benefits of one bottle of red wine or 1,000 red grapes.

A report by FoodNavigator-USA.com says that the grapes used to create VINIA are grown through hydroponic technology that was developed for 10 years. A month’s supply, according to the site, costs $120.

BioHarvest’s website lists some of its advantages such as helping blood circulation, aid arteries, promote antioxidant activity, and support (normal) blood pressure. The red grape powder can be mixed with food or drink.

And you thought the boxed kind was the worst of it.
