Chef Tippi Tambunting takes over Donosti Pintxos and Tapas

Don’t worry: M Dining, the former Masseto, is in good hands.


( Chef Tippi Tambunting last made headlines when she prepared desserts for Pope Francis and his staff at the tail end of the Papal visit in January. Now, she’s stirring up something new: the chef is taking over tapas bar and Spanish restaurant Donosti in Bonifacio Global City. This development was formalized yesterday, March 2.


Donosti Pintxos and Tapas opened in October 2013, the brainchild of Bettina Aboitiz and Jose Antonio Gutierrez, and concretized by the skills of chefs Pablo Lopez Iglesias and Borja Duran Cid. Though it was named after Donostia, a town in the Basque region, it serves cuisine from all over Spain, with traditional small plates and an ever-changing line-up of pintxos or skewered bread and toppings. Bestsellers include the Pulpo a la Gallega, Callos, Roasted Spanish Lamb, and Sangria.


According to Chef Tippi, no changes have been made to the exisiting menu, but new dishes will be in the works in the next two weeks. Meanwhile, her sous chef, Alec Santos, will be helming M Dining on Valero Street, Makati City.
