10 Reasons Why We Love Greenbelt Love Bites
The sights, sounds, and tastes of the mall's Valentines weekend food fair made us swoon and look forward to next year's reprise.
Greenbelt, with its pocket gardens built for outdoor dining and entertainment, recently staged Love Bites at Greenbelt 3. On this year's Valentines weekend, couples, families, friends, and co-workers-mall-goers all-were treated to good food and evening entertainment. And with a whimsical 50's carnival theme as the ideal backdrop, the grub, music, and company all seemed a little more fun than they already are.
We list down ten of the things we are already missing from this year's Love Bites-and are expecting twice the fun when it stages a comeback next year, fingers crossed.

1. Pepi Cubano Sandwiches
Anyone who has seen Jon Favreau's movie "Chef" must have had a Cubano sandwich craving at some point. And since Cuban restaurants aren't exactly ubiquitous in Manila, many fans of the movie were ecstatic to finally have the chance to satisfy their craving through Pepi Cubano's "Paddy Bistek", "Tito Choripan", "Media Noche", "Pan de Guyaba y Quezo" and "Pan de Pollo".
2. Make You Own Magnum
Single? In a relationship? Complicated? Doesn't matter. Everyone who trooped to the Magnum kiosk created their own version of happiness with the popular ice cream bar and their choice of dips and toppings. Now that's totally heartbreak-proof.
3. Alchemy's Macarons
Macarons are petite, edible memoirs of how sweet life is-and the selection over at Alchemy's serves as a big reminder. Their macarons come in enticing flavors like chai spice, banana walnut, and mint chocolate. For Valentines, they had gift-worthy "ILY" macarons selling for Php 85 per box.
4. Mister Fluffies
What could be better than cotton candy? Organic, gourmet cotton candy is what! It is our good old childhood favorite made healthier and all grown up using all-natural ingredients. Some standout flavors include banana, almond, orange punch, peppermint, and blueberry-and that's just five out of 130 available flavors.
5. Cupcakes by Sonja's
We always love a hint of nostalgia and the theme adopted by the well-loved cupcake store certainly did not disappoint. Sonja's displayed their cupcakes-a hit with the sweet-toothed for years running-in a truck that harked back to the 1950s, to the delight of the children celebrating Valentine's with their families.
6. Teddy's Bigger Burgers
Those with bigger appetites had their fill at Teddy's Bigger Burgers. Couples out on a date and as well as families and friends enjoyed the juicy, meaty goodness of Teddy's classic and bacon-happy varieties.
7. Bun Appetit
Salcedo Market favorite Bun Appetit set up shop in Greenbelt that weekend and as expected, made new fans out of the mall's V-Day crowd. Those who lined up for Bun Appetit's Lobster Roll, Shrimp Roll, Crab Roll, Garlic Noodles, and Cuban Grilled Corn have found true love, it seems.
8. Papa John's Pizza
Pizza is always a good idea regardless of the time of year but seemed so apt during Valentines weekend. Those in the hunt for comfort food shared their respective favorites at Papa John's with family, friends, or that special someone. Cue laughter.
9. Live Music
The fair's live music proved to be ear candy-and with different flavors for each evening. On Friday's opening night, the Flippin Soul Stompers performed funky tunes from decades past-perfect for the after-work crowd that lined up in each booth. On Valentine's Day, chanteuse Gabbi Buencamino delighted the audience with one romantic song after another. And to cap off an amazing weekend and as if an allusion to pre-Monday nerves, families were treated to a Sunday slowdown blues night by Blue Rascals.
10. Sweets all over
Love is definitely in the air at Greenbelt! While we immensely enjoyed the chocolates and the scrumptious desserts, it was the sight of couples (both young and young at heart), friends and family members spending Valentine’s Day together that’s easily the sweetest part of the Love Bites food fair. The kind of sweetness that not only fills the stomach with glee but melts hearts as well.
