Debuting Dishes Today: Liberty Sandwich, KFC’s Tabasco Fried Chicken, Frozen Butterbeer

( We lost the bet. When we broke the news of KFC’s Tabasco-infused fried chicken a week and a half ago, we expected an early March release, but the Crispy Fire Chicken-which is not as red as we expected, by the way-is available in branches starting today, February 27 (afternoon).



The Crispy Fire Chicken is marinated in Tabasco sauce, enveloping the meat in a peppery-tangy crisp coat. Chicken rice and coleslaw is recommended, but it’s also available in a by-piece combo, Fully Loaded Meal, or Bucket Meal.



In more food news, Early Bird Breakfast Club is gearing up for the summer heat with Frozen Butterbeer (P165), the latest incarnation of their bestselling Harry Potter-inspired beverage. Early Bird co-owner Ellen Co said that the idea developed from their trip to Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida last year. "They have two kinds of Butterbeer. The original is a cold butterscotch liquid soda drink and a frozen one in a slush, crushed-ice version with honey and caramel." It’s a great soother for the impending Manila heat.



Cheese Steak Shop, which is stationed at Amorsolo Street, Legazpi Village, Makati, is also launching their latest creation: the Liberty Sandwich. It’s a crunchy toasted golden stack with bright-yellow cheese, speckled with bits of ham, oozing out from all sides. Awesome. Now we know what we’ll be spending our paycheck on (or part of it, anyway).
