Beer festivals and drink-all-you-can-booze abound during this month, but did you know that Oktoberfest actually begins in September in Germany? Plus, the festival didn't start as a celebration of beer, but as a feast to celebrate the wedding of King Ludwig I to Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen. Still, we'll take any excuse to party, so we round up where you can celebrate Oktoberfest in Manila this October.

Our local craft brewers have never been more active than ever. For your craft-beer journey, there’s no better place to start that at Grove Weekend Brews, happening this October 6 and 7 at The Grove by Rockwell, starting 5 p.m. Discover local brews from Crazy Carabao Brewing Co., Engkanto Brewery, Pedro Brewcrafters, Nipa Brew Craft Beers, Bulul Brewery, Joe's Brew, Kapitolyo Brewing Company, Barik Supremo Lambanog, and Cerveza Sagada Craft Brewery. City of Dreams’ October Beer Festival
Party the night away at City of Dreams’ annual October Beer Festival on October 12 and 13 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Indulge in free-flowing beer from all over the world: Weihenstephaner from Germany’s oldest brewery, Heineken from the Netherlands, Sapporo from Japan plus local beers and craft beers. You can feast on German dishes like Spanferkel (roasted suckling pig), Brathendl (German-style roast chicken), Grillhaxe (roast pork knuckle), and more. Of course, no Oktoberfest is complete without some German sausages, and there’s plenty to be had here, like Weisswurst, Bratwurst, Nürnberger, Bockwurst, and more.

Oktoberfest at Solaire Resort & Casino
Solaire Resort & Casino will be holding Oktoberfest celebrations from October 12 to 15. On October 12 to 14, at 6 p.m. onwards, feast on the best of German cuisine from their dinner buffet plus free-flowing Weihenstephaner beer. Cap off the celebrations with a Fruehschoppen or Bavarian brunch on October 15 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Marco Polo is celebrating Oktoberfest with a feast of German sausages and beer. For P700, quench your thirst with your choice from German beers Becks, Paulaner Hell, and Paulaner Dunkel. Pair your drinks with a platter of German sausages plus sauerkrat, German potato salad, and pretzels.

Drink-All-You-Can Beer at Relik Restaurant and Bar
Indulge in free-flowing Cerveza Negra, San Miguel Premium, and San Miguel Super Dry at Relik Restaurant and Bar for the whole month of October. Choose from three hours (P195/Monday to Tuesday, P245/Wednesday to Thursday, Saturday) or five hours (P295/Monday to Tuesday, P345/Wednesday to Thursday, Saturday) of unlimited drinking. Those beers would probably pair well with a serving of Relik's Chorizig.

Marriott Manila's Greatroom will feature a special Oktoberfest menu by German Executive Chef Meik Brammer. Choose from a selection of German classics like German Sausage in beef stock served with pretzel and mustard dip, or Beef Goulash, a hearty and rich beef stew. Pair your meal with Marriott Manila's selection of beers like Hefe Weissbier, Munchner, and local beers.

Oktoberfest at Diamond Hotel
Poolside at Diamond Hotel will be throwing a German feast for the entire month to celebrate Oktoberfest. Indulge in their buffet of classic German favorites like German Schnitzel and Wurst for P700. And because no Oktoberfest celebration is complete without beers, get three Budweisers for P1,080+ and get another can for free.

Hopfest Craft Beer Festival at Edsa Shangri-La Manila
Oktoberfest may be a German festival, but it's also the perfect excuse to shine the spotlight on local craft beers. Hopfest at Edsa Shangri-La Manila will feature beer from local breweries like Crazy Carabao Brewing Co., Engkanto Brewery, Great Islands Craft Brewery, Kapitolyo Brewing Company, and more. Edsa Shangri-La Manila will also be introducing their new Limelight Ale, exclusively brewed by them. Entrance fee starts at P500 for three 110 ml glasses but for P1,200, you can get unlimited craft beer and woodfire oven-baked pizza. Hopfest is happening on October 13 and 14 from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.
