Hyatt Hotel and Casino Manila unveils Kaleidoscope couture cake designed by Louis Claparols

Hyatt Hotel and Casino Manila and sought-after fashion designer Louis Claparols have teamed up to create a too-pretty-to-eat confection-Kaleidoscope, a couture cake for dessert-loving fashionistas.

The cube-shaped trifle cake decorated with Claparols’ signature graphic designs of colorful geometric patterns printed on delicate sugar paper was unvei recently at The Music Bar in Hyatt Hotel and Casino Manila. The fashionably sweet treat is made with Swiss Felchlin white chocolate layered with fresh strawberries, covered with smooth cream cheese mousse, featuring a crunchy base of crushed Graham crackers sprinkled with cinnamon.

Hyatt’s first couture cake launch in 2010 featured Kate Torralba. After its success, the hotel decided to continue creating signature couture cakes by today's youngest and hottest fashion designers.

"Being asked by Hyatt Hotel and Casino Manila to do this project with them was such an honor...When I was approached about this partnership, I got really excited by the idea of creating my very own dream cake with the help of the hotel's talented pastry chefs. The most exciting part of it all is the chance to share my dream cake with everyone," said Claparols.

What was the top designer’s inspiration for making Kaleidoscope? "I really love color, so I designed the couture cake to be as vibrant and artsy as I possibly could. It had to look special and personalized, which is why I drew the four graphic patterns featured on the cake by hand. I decided on a cube shape to make it more interesting and to stand out-perfect for a conversation piece," Claparols explained.

Kaleidoscope is a collaboration between Claparols and Hyatt Hotel and Casino Manila's pastry chef, Johann Dreisger. It is available for P988 net at Hyatt’s Pastry Boutique until April.
