(SPOT.ph) If you're passionate about what you eat, you and food blogger extraordinaire Lori Baltazar will have tons to talk about. As the blogger behind Dessert Comes First, her immense love for all things food has spawned one of the first and most followed food blogs in Manila. And it’s evident in every entry she posts: not only does she eat, breathe, and write about food, she cooks it too.
"My love affair with food started in the womb!" the 37-year-old culinary school graduate says jokingly. Her love for food began at home where she was raised by a Kapampangan mom with a cooking repertoire that went beyond the usual sinigang and adobo. Unorthodox dishes like shepherd's pie, tacos, even sushi-specialties you wouldn’t typically find in a Filipino home-found their way to her family’s dinner table. Inheriting her mom’s culinary prowess, Lori first learned how to bake her first cheesecake at age 11 using her mom’s recipe- the same one she would use many years later for the cheesecake hailed "the best in town" by a local food magazine in 2000.
As a food writer, she has written articles for many local publications, but her most personal food-ventures by far are best chronicled online in Dessert Comes First. Known for its lists of best eats, restaurant features, and a comprehensive list of the who’s who in Manila’s home baking scene, Lori's blog is an interesting, educational, and addicting read for anyone who loves to eat.
