Café Via Mare's Shangri-La Plaza Branch Has Closed
It was one of their most popular branches.
(SPOT.ph) Shangri-La Plaza is a Tita haven for many reasons—and stopping by for lunch or coffee at the mall's Café Via Mare branch is almost a non-negotiable bit of any visit. Those memories are treasures you'll want to hold onto moving forward, as the said outpost of the restaurant officially has closed.

Café Via Mare closes their Shangri-La Plaza Restaurant:
The brand made the announcement on social media on May 1. "After many years of serving your classic Filipino favorites, we have closed the doors of our Shangri-la outlet for the last time... [on] April 30," the brand writes. "Our heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you for spending time with us. We’re incredibly grateful seeing you share your laughters and smiles with your friends and family over a plate of your favorite Via Mare dishes."
Via Mare opened their first restaurant—a fine-dining establishment specializing in seafood—in Makati, all the way back in 1975. As the years went on they'd go on to open more casual spinoffs that included a catering service, oyster bar, and of course, their famous cafés. The Shangri-La Plaza café, located on the first level of the main wing, became a fan favorite—perhaps for how well it fit with the mall's location and demographic who'd be hankering for a hearty bite of palabok or bibingka (one of our favorite versions in the city!) after a long day of shopping.
Thankfully, things are far from lost—Via Mare's other branches remain open, including the Capitol Commons outpost that's a just a few skips away from Shangri-La Plaza. Still, it's worth taking this as a reminder to support your favorite restaurants whenever you can.
