(SPOT.ph) It's unusual, but I see it happening. Those are the words that came to mind when I first heard that the famed fine dining Wolfgang's Steakhouse would open up shop in Araneta City's shiny new Gateway Mall 2. While the area, more commonly called Cubao, is a bustling city district, fancy wouldn't be one of the first words I'd use to characterize it. But with the opening of the new mall and its swanky restaurants and high-end stores, it looks like it might change sooner rather than later. 

Wolfgang's Steakhouse Grill Araneta City formally opened its doors this week. We got the chance to check out the restaurant as it opened. Here are our first impressions.

Wolfgang Steakhouse Araneta City follows its predecessor branch in the City of Dreams, which falls under the brand's grill concept. This means the new branch will feature less stuffy penguin-clad waiters, and is more akin to a more upscale sports bar. 

Don't worry, though. Wolfgang Steakhouse Grill still has all the classic meats from their famous menu, including their mouthwatering Dry-Aged Porterhouse Steak and wide selection of wines.

The grill concept features a more relaxed atmosphere by integrating a more extensive bar and bar menu. The space even has two flatscreen TVs broadcasting the latest sports games—which, in our opinion, brings a lighter, more casual mood to the spot, perfect for its location near Araneta Coliseum. 

More than just a new look, the roughly 60-seater space also boasts more casual eats like a light Balsamic Burrata Salad, Skirt Steak Tacos, and a sandwich line that features our personal favorite, the Dry-Aged Pastrami Reuben Sandwich. 

Wolfgang Steakhouse Grill Araneta City is a place you can hit up for fancy night outs with your S.Os, family, and friends and for pre-gaming for a concert or a match.

Alternatively, you can even release post-concert or post-game highs here by celebrating with their many available tipples and brews. End your nights with creations like the Guava Caipirinha, a vibrant and refreshing fusion of cachaça and ripe guava, or the Lilikoi Margarita, which is a harmonious blend of passion fruit, zesty lime, and the smoothness of tequila.

Next time you feel like celebrating your home team's win or like extending your music high, head over to Wolfgang Steakhouse Grill at Gateway Mall 2. You already spent that much on your tickets. What's a little more to really treat yourself.
