San Juan Coffee Shop Granville Bids Us Goodbye

(SPOT.ph) Opening a café in the midst of the pandemic was no easy feat—but it was a challenge Granville readily took as they made their splash in San Juan in 2020. Three years later however, the coffee shop has announced they'll be closing for good, with their final day open being November 20.

This is what we know about the closure of Granville in San Juan:

"After 3 years of serving our beloved neighborhood, Granville will be closing its doors," the coffee shop writes in an Instagram post published October 13th. "Our final day of operation will be on November 20, and until then, we invite you to come in and share your favorite moments with us. Let's make these last few days truly special."

Granville shares how they opened with the aim of "[providing] a safe haven for our community, a place to find comfort in a cup of coffee, and a warm smile even behind our masks" during the "challenging times" of the COVID-13 pandemic. "However, recent circumstances have proven to be insurmountable. Rising operational costs and an unexpected increase in rent from our landlord have left us with no choice but to make this tough decision."

The coffee shop expresses their thanks to all their visitors, regulars, staff, and the community that "embraced us." "We want to extend our deepest gratitude to each and every one of you for your unwavering support, patronage, and the friendships we've forged... as we bid farewell to this chapter, please know that the memories we've created here will forever hold a special place in our hearts. We hope to see you in the cafe one last time to raise a cup of coffee, share stories, and say goodbye."
