(SPOT.ph) Per Philippine law, restaurants and related establishments in the Philippines are to give senior citizens and persons with disability a 20% discount and exemption from the usual 12% value-added tax. Starbucks looks to be limiting the perks as they'll be rolling out new guidelines for these discounts very soon.

Here's what we know about senior citizen and PWD discounts at Starbucks in 2024:
Senior citizens and persons with disability (PWD) could formerly get one drink and up to two food items with the 20% discount at Starbucks. This will soon change, as indicated by an advisory we spotted on a recent trip to our nearby branch. Starting January 15, the 20% discount will now only be applicable to one food item and one drink. Be sure to bring the actual ID as that's what they will be asking for.
The senior citizen and PWD discounts are given in light of Republic Act No. 9994 (also called the Expanded Senior Citizens Act of 2010) and Republic Act 10754, respectively.
Starbucks is an American coffee chain that was established in the '70s. They came to the Philippines in 1997, bringing their signature coffee drinks and pastries with them, and have been a favorite among Filipinos ever since. Other bestsellers at Starbucks are the Caramel Macchiato and Mocha Frappuccino.
