(SPOT.ph) With major roads turning car-free on weekends giving people reason to head out and have fun, Makati in particular is amping up the experience with the help of the French embassy. The land of wine and cheese is hosting their annual Goût de France,a.k.a. Good France, festival in June—and part of the celebration is a two-day market at Makati's Paseo de Roxas you wouldn't want to miss. Prepare your stomachs!

French Embassy to host French market at Makati's Paseo de Roxas this June
The Goût de France opens this weekend with a market most anyone can enter. They're setting up camp along the car-free Paseo de Roxas Avenue by the Ayala Triangle on June 1 and 2. You can get a taste of French gastronomy, particularly of the street-food kind. There will be crêpes, pastries and other treats, as well as coffee, liqeuers, and because this is France hosting, wines, too.
After getting your fill, you can watch or participate in the events. In honor of Paris hosting this year's Olympics, folks biking or running on Sunday morning, June 2, will be treated to croissants and coffee. A fun run is scheduled that same day. On the slate, too, are cooking demonstrations to be led by Enderun chefs and apprentices. Plus, a traditional race of waiters—where participants race while carrying a tray of what is usually croissants and coffee—is being planned for Sunday.
Beyond the weekend market, the Good France fest is working with some 20 French restaurants to offer a special menu until June 9. There will also be a wine-tasting event at the Maison Bukana in EDSA Shangri-La Plaza on June 13.
The Goût de France started in 2015 as a project of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs in partnership with renowned chef Alain Ducasse. It presents people across the globe with an opportunity to try French cuisine.
