10 Must-Try Holes in the Wall: 2011 Edition

Street cred and a square meal are guaranteed in any of these off-the-beaten-path grub hubs.

(SPOT.ph) In the gilded age of mall culture and mega franchise restaurants, it's a welcome breather that we can still fall back on fuss-free dining or breakfast at a mom-and-pop eatery. Comfortably outside the orbit of commercial areas, many of the metro's hole-in-the-wall restaurants range from the dubious to the delectable, persisting and sometimes flourishing in their own neck of the woods. But whether it's a dimly-lit shawarma house in the heart of 'Far-view,' or some back alley Korean barbecue in a forgettable section of Makati, you can be guaranteed both street cred and a square meal in any of these grub hubs. Caked with soy sauce and garlic dip, we've come back from the trenches to gleefully report to you our latest nominees.
