Comedian Jimmy Kimmel poked fun at the KFC Philippines Cheese Top Burger in his spiel and followed up with a spoof ad.
After being slammed by a Gawker.com writer and spoofed on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the KFC Philippines Cheese Top Burger is striking back. (Well, sort of.)
For starters, ABS-CBNNNews.com reports that "KFC Philippines marketing manager Errol Magdato (in an ANC interview) "cleared speculations that the new sandwich is sticky and difficult to eat." He said: "That's the biggest misconception about the burger, that it's sticky and greasy. You can eat it like a regular burger."
Then, according to the report, when asked why the company decided to bake the cheese on top of the bun, Magdato pointed out: "We like to play around with things that Filipinos love and what people like to put in food-cheese. We decided to bake it on top of the bun, that makes the bread cheesier and tastier. The baking process makes it stick to the bread, so it's not really sticky."
Errol Magdato also sent an email statement to SPOT.ph, saying, "What we can assure you is that it's so good. I encourage our consumers to try it and be the judge. And at only P50 for a combo with a drink, it's value-for-money you can't get anywhere else."
