There's another croissant hybrid in Manila!
(SPOT.ph) A little over a year after Dominique Ansel's Cronut sensation was introduced to Manila and resulted in all possible portmanteaus of croissants and donuts, aside from mutations of other breads like a siopant (siopao croissant), Yamato Bakery has created yet another flaky hybrid. The Cruffin.
The Japanese bakery, which is still making variations of the Cronut up to today, has launched six different flavors of this new dessert crossbreed. We're not sure how to describe it: it's either a really crisp muffin or a misshapen croissant. But we like the colorful toppings: they have chocolate, nuts, vanilla, green tea, or cocoa powder. It's how we would've eaten the French viennoiserie as children.
How about it, Spotters? Are we ready to welcome another X-croissant into our lives?
Yamato has branches at Jupiter Street, Makati City; and Blue Bay Walk, EDSA corner Macapagal Avenue, Pasay City.
