Finally, ramen spiked with matcha in Manila
Doesn't that give your usual ramen a new twist?
(SPOT.ph) Manila's mecca of matcha, Kissako Cafe, has (finally!) launched ramen infused with the revered earthy flavor of green-tea powder.
Matcha, which is fast becoming the trendiest flavor of 2015, finds several incarnations in this Pasig nook. The Uji Matcha Ramen, priced at P200, is specially made by a Japanese chef. The noodles are spiked with matcha, hence the greenish tone, layering a new dimension to the full-bodied broth. This bowl of earthy pleasantly bitter comfort is reinforced by slices of charsiu (barbecued pork) and tamago. It's so special that it's only offered during weekdays, 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
By the way, they also have Matcha Soba available. Keeping up with the cold requirements this summer, Kissako also released a matcha soft-serve ice cream and a decadent Matcha Oreo (P160) ice-blended drink.
Kissako Uji Matcha Cafe is at Pioneer Center, Pasig City. Read more about Kissako.
