This candy buffet will make you feel like you're in Willy Wonka's factory
Take your sweet tooth to Spectrum's Candy Wonderland!
G/F Fairmont Hotel, Ayala Center, Makati City
Available from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. (Sunday)
(SPOT.ph) After their wildly-successful Lego-themed Sunday brunch, Fairmont Hotel's Spectrum is back with a treat for candy and dessert lovers of all ages. The swanky, award-winning buffet restaurant has turned itself into a sort of Candy Wonderland. At least on Sundays.
Walking down the marbled corridors of the hotel, you are immediately greeted by two imposing Haribo bear statues that act as display for their staggering selection of gummy candies. Around 2 p.m., a Haribo mascot comes through the dining room and whisks away the kids to the second-floor play area where they can burn off the sugar and make their own cupcakes.
With the balls of energy safely taken away, this would be the perfect time to enjoy the expansive dessert display that Fairmont's pastry team meticulously prepares for this weekend event. Jelly bean-adorned cupcakes, chocolate fountains, rainbow cakes, napoleons topped with gummy worms—everything looks like something out of your five-year-old fantasies.
Purists would make a beeline for the sinful Chocolate Truffle Cake and ethereal Strawberry Shortcake. Their homemade ice creams are worth a try, and make sure to top off your double scoop with a Bacon Macaron.
These are all for the taking, assuming that you still have room in your belly. You will get distracted by the wide array of sushi, charcuterie, carving stations for lechon, turkey, and prime rib. The dim sum is legit, and so is their tagliatelle Bolognese. Seafood fans will enjoy a cold bar of raw oysters, cooked shrimps, mussels, and even some seasonal diwal.
Indulgence comes with a hefty price tag (P2,777+ for adults), but Spectrum offers nothing less than premium dishes and stellar service. Besides, while you're licking cream cheese icing off your fingers and wiping caramel from your chin, you will barely notice the dent on your credit card.
