What's better than BONO Gelato? Boozed-up BONO Gelato!

It's spiked with the hard stuff!

(SPOT.ph) What might be a “most peculiar arrangement” for some actually makes perfect sense to us.

"The Most Unusual Frozen Delights" is a product borne out of the collaboration between ultra-premium Hendrick’s Gin and award-winning, proudly Pinoy gelato makers BONO Gelato. With an acute sense for the unusual, Hendrick’s has found a perfect, albeit atypical, partner in BONO Gelato, whose high-quality and unique flavor offerings also demonstrate a leaning towards the extraordinary. Taking inspiration from four different cocktails, the gelato makers came up with sorbet flavors highlighting the gin’s refreshing taste and delightful floral aroma.

Hendrick’s Gin regional brand manager, the bubbly and adorable Lee Ying-Zhi, was on hand to discuss with us the extraordinary qualities of the high-end gin and what makes it distinct. “Hendrick’s Gin is unlike any other gin. From the way it is made to the way it is enjoyed, Hendrick’s celebrates the unusual and is dedicated to helping gin-lovers from all around the world embrace an experience that is different and most whimsical.” Unlike other gins, Hendrick’s is handcrafted in small batches using a two-still process to bathe and steam the 11 constituent botanicals. It gets its distinct aroma from the infusion of cucumber and rose petals.

Although these brands seem to be an uncanny match made in heaven, BONO chef Zarah Manikan admits that developing four different flavors while upholding the curious characteristics of the gin posed a serious challenge. “Alcohol does not freeze!” Chef Zarah exclaims while she worked her magic with some liquid nitrogen. It took some expert knowledge and technique to come up with the high-quality product that both brands are known for while also delivering on flavor and taste.

The sorbets we got to try at their launch at The Red Rabbit in Salcedo Village, Makati were: Hendrick’s & Tonic; Gin Basil Smash; Lychee & Gin; and Mango Citrus.

Chef Zarah shares that these flavors might be made available in select BONO branches, but they were really developed for their on-site catering service, BONO Events. Imagine a bachelorette party or even an intimate beach wedding with these intoxicating and refreshing treats—it would be a certified hit!
