Look: Yabu's turning their katsu into burgers!

More ways to enjoy that prized golden pork cutlet.



(SPOT.ph) Pork chop sandwiches aren't a Pinoy thing. We want that tender, crispy pork loin dipped in sauce with some streaming hot rice.


But, the Yabu peeps know better. They know exactly what to do with their juicy Hire to make you change your mind about a porkchop sandwich forever.


The Hire Katsu Burger (P360) is their lean breaded porkchop topped with shredded cabbage, shiso leaves, japanese pickles, tonkatsu sauce, caramelized onions, all tucked into a buttery brioche bun. This seems like a mouthful but all these sweet, savory, tangy flavors come together famously in every bite.




If you were already sold on the pork burger, the Ebi Katsu Burger just might blow your mind. The shrimp patty is made of roughly chopped tiger prawns, battered and fried to a crisp, then topped with almost the same condiments as the hire. Instead of the tonkatsu sauce, the patty is smothered with a spicy aioli. Imagine a shrimp po'boy, but more Japanese than Cajun.



The burgers are accompanied by either a chicken salad or their winner, Furikake Fries. So good that in anticipation of a cult following, they also offer the fries a la carte (P175). If the flavors of the Japanese seasonings will not get you hooked, the crispness of the steak-cut fries will do you in.
