What the heck is a 'Crupcake'?

Meet the latest baked confection from Cupcakes by Sonja

(SPOT.ph) After years of dishing out cupcakes in inventive flavors, it looks like Cupcakes by Sonja has moved on. The small store in Serendra that single-handedly made cupcakes a part of Filipinos' everyday lives now has multiple outlets in the Metro and it is literally changing the face of their trademark item.

Back in July, Cupcakes by Sonja started putting macarons atop mini cupcakes—Cupparons, they called them—a bite-sized double-hit of satisfaction. Early this September, the sweet shop unleashed its latest creation: Crupcakes, a mutation of croissants and cupcakes.

The Crupcakes will make their debut at Cupcakes by Sonja's booth at The Gourmand Market, September 11 to 13, Bonifacio High Street, Bonifacio Global City.

Based on looks alone, it seems that it's pretty much a nut-flavored croissant in the shape of a cupcake. We have to say it looks pretty good, and gives off a slight cinnamon roll vibe.

We're going back to the question we ask every time someone comes out with a Cruffin, Cronap, Cronut, Crookie, Croclair, or  Siopant. What's wrong with the classic croissant?
