This proudly Pinoy chocolate bar should be on your Christmas shopping list

It's a limited-edition collab between Hiraya and Kalsada Coffee.


( We've noticed how in the past few years, Filipino food entrepreneurs have been stepping up their game in the packaging department (Read: Good Enough to Eat: 10 More Best in Food Packaging). There's also been a shift towards highlighting local sources. Hiraya Filipino Bean-to-Bar Chocolates isn't the first chocolate company to marry both, but its cool packaging and impressive ideology has definitely caught our attention. 



Hiraya describes itself as "an advocate of sustainable and socially conscious practices. We make single-origin chocolate bars and chocolate products from cacao beans sourced around the Philippines." The emerging social enterprise, which launched only in September, recently concluded a crowd-funding campaign that earned P85,000 for Davao farmers. 


Some of their items include single origin chocolate bars, cacao nibs, and cacao powder, as well as other customizable chocolate products. 


For the holidays, Hiraya teamed up with another locally motivated social enterprise, Kalsada Coffee, to come up with a special chocolate bar. It's a single-origin, 72% dark chocolate from Davao paired with Auntie Rosita's roasted whole bean coffee from the Mountain Province. It's a bold and crunchy treat. The exquisite white packaging features a topography of Mountain Province.


This limited-edition chocolate bar is priced at P195. Available at Habitual Coffee, 2135 Chino Roces Avenue, Makati City.
