A new Asian bread shop just opened, and it will make you love carbs again

Our carb of choice for today is bread.


(SPOT.ph) The Soboro bread wins it for us. Soboro bread is a bun with a Korean-style streusel topping. The texture is close to a roti bun, but a little crumblier, a little crisper. It's not too sweet, not too buttery, and there's a light peanut note in the flavor. The Soboro we're eating coems from Boulangerie 22, a new bread shop that in December quickly opened four branches with two more to follow.


The rows of mouthwatering breads on the display cases flaunt Asian flavors. They have buns filled with black sesame and red beans, buns filled with sweet red beans, rice cake breads, and breads with meat floss. 


The Korean Black Sesame Red Bean Bread is a burst of sweet and nutty flavors. It's definitely not your run-of-the-mill monggo bread. The bun is so light and soft that you have to watch that you won't eat a basket-full at once. Boulangerie 22's specialty is the Mozzarella Sausage Tteok Bread. Tteok is a soft, subtly flavored rice cake, which Boulangerie 22 enhances with cheese and a spicy Hungarian sausage. 


Christmas-themed cakes are also available for the holidays. Boulangerie 22 opened just in time.
