Enjoy this Whammo's Cake...while you can
Apparently, these cake bars aren't forever.
(SPOT.ph) The cake bars of the '90s are back. Cream-filled cake bar Whammo's has been burning up social media lines lately and the fact that it's only available in select convenience stores and in very limited quantities only fueled everyone's curiosity more.
The Baker's Table chef Jonnathan Em decided to make the most out of Whammo's by turning it into his latest candy-turned-cake creation. The pastry chef, who is famous for his cake versions of Butter Ball, Viva, Potchi, and Haw Haw Milk Candy, starts with dark chocolate brownies, tops that with chocoalte ganache, adds a layer of Whammo's, crowns it with more ganache and caramel, then finishes it with yet more ganache, whipped cream, caramel, and chocolate sprinkles. It's priced at P120/slice or P1,200/whole.
The Whammo's Cake won't be available all the time (but it is right now, so might want to make a beeline for Teachers Village). According to Chef Jonnathan, he's been going around 7-Eleven stores, tracking down the cake bars. Each outlet only carries about a dozen pieces at a time. Currently, the chef is on a mission to find the Whammo's manufacturer.
The Baker's Table is at at 88B Maginhawa Street, Teachers Village, Quezon City. Read more about The Baker's Table.
