Soft shell crabs, fish cakes, and more festive treats await at Wee Nam Kee

(SPOT.ph) Singaporean chain Wee Nam Kee has been around for almost six years now, and through the years, they’ve shaken up their extensive menu constantly. This holiday season, their line up sees more fresh additions that Gelo Hongo, marketing manager for The Relish Group, says were all locally conceptualized and will only be available here in the Philippines.

 

Laksa Lava Fish Cake

 

Wee Nam Kee envisions their four new dishes as a progression of flavors that will put you in a celebratory mood. An appetizer can make or break a feast, and the Laksa Lava Fish Cake (P195/two pieces) is definitely a pleasant start. The silky texture of the fish cakes contrasts perfectly with the crisp breading, and the laksa curry filling adds a nice layer of spiciness.

 

Cereal Soft Shelled Crab

 

 

Chili Soft Shelled Crab

 

Their take on the soft shell crab comes in two variations. The Cereal Soft Shelled Crab (P658/two pieces) is a twist on the classic Cereal Prawns, for those who prefer one type of shellfish over the other. The sweet and crunchy cereal doesn’t overpower the freshness of the crab, and prepares your palate for the surprise heat that makes its way to your taste buds soon after your first bite. The Chili Soft Shelled Crab (P658/two pieces), on the other hand, is the deconstructed version of the Singaporean favorite, with soft shell crab sitting on top of a bed of onion rings and covered in a sweet-spicy sauce that delivers a punch of spice at the end.

Beef with Peach Mint Sauce

 

This holiday feast ends strong with the Braised Beef Brisket With Potatoes (P380), made more festive with red and green bell peppers. While the beef chunks are tender and soft enough for a fork to slice through, the sauce is the true star of this dish. The peach flavor adds a nice layer of sweetness to the spicy sauce, with a refreshing kick of mint following close behind. It’s a balance of flavors you won’t find anywhere else.

 

While the Wee Nam Kee culinary team crafted this menu with the holidays in mind, we can see ourselves having these dishes for any special occasion, or even when we feel like treating ourselves to some good food. Wee Nam Kee’s new holiday dishes will be available starting today, November 22, and we’re crossing our fingers that they’ll be staying for a long while.
