Here's where to calm those turkey cravings this weekend

The Bowery serves up a feast.


( While Thanksgiving isn't a Pinoy tradition, we are very familiar with the idea of a homemade feast shared by family and friends that will leave us in a food coma for hours to follow. That is the big idea behind The Bowery's Thanksgiving Menu, inspired by Chef Cuit Kaufman's own family recipes.



The star of this All-American spread truly is the Roast Turkey. The meat is cooked perfectly to be juicy and flavorful, even without stuffing or gravy. Not that the two additions aren't note-worthy as well. The Traditional Sourdough Bread Stuffing is chewy and tasty even on its own, but it also does its work complementing the turkey spectacularly. The Bowery bakes their bread in-house, and the gravy is laced with a brandy flavor that is perfectly sweet-savory without being overpowering. 


No Thanksgiving menu is complete without sides, and The Bowery offers plenty of choices. Their Classic Mac and Cheese is the perfect example of the American comfort food The Bowery is known for. Served in a warm skillet, a blend of yellow cheddar, Gruyere, and Gouda coats each pasta spiral. A standout among the sides is the Sweet Potato Mash With Roasted Marshmallows. Chef Cuit jokes that the pilgrims probably did not serve this mash at the first Thanksgiving, and honestly, we think they missed out. The sweet potato mash is given a flavor boost by the charred sweetness of the marshmallows, with a texture that also gives a nice contrast to the over-all creaminess of the dish.  



Hopefully there's still room to spare in your tummy for dessert, because it'd be a real shame to miss out on the Pumpkin Pie. Chef Cuit's version flaunts the distinct nutty notes of pumpkin, with the side of walnut crunch drenched in maple syrup giving the creamy pie a nice balance of texture and taste.


After this feast, we were shamefully left with lots of leftovers, but not for want of trying. But then, Chef Cuit assures us, it's not a real Thanksgiving dinner without leftovers. If you'd really rather have the dishes in more manageable portions, The Bowery also offers their Roast Turkey and sides as à la carte meals.
