(SPOT.ph) There are quite a number of quaint neighborhood restaurants that offer staples meant to comfort but not all of them are bold enough to give a bit of twist to familiar flavors. We’re all for a taste of home, but giving our taste buds a nice surprise is always welcome! Such is the case of Relish at Ponte, which recently opened its third branch in Alabang.
“Our family loves to travel a lot so aside from old family favorites—the same, well-loved dishes we serve during our family events—the menu that we have in Relish is basically the best of the best flavors we’ve tasted from different parts of the world,” says Monique Almario, who's currently in charge of marketing.
Designed by acclaimed designers Ivy and Cynthia Almario, the interiors are posh and dreamy at the same time. There are beautiful baskets of lights and flowers hanging from the ceiling that give the place a fresh and bright look—giving you the same feeling you get when colorful butterflies flock to your garden. The wow-worthy displays are complemented with floor-to-ceiling windows and shabby chic seats.
Don’t get intimidated, though; servings are good for sharing, making the prices pretty reasonable. If there’s anything to be worried about, it’s the very likely chance that you might over-order.
Gourmet Pesto Cheese Spread
Amazing Artichoke Dip
Start with something light but flavorful, like the Gourmet Pesto Cheese Spread (P275). The decadent slab of cream cheese, pesto, and tomato puree creates a uniquely toothsome blend of flavors. The Amazing Artichoke Dip (P390) is also such a winner with homemade corn chips and creamy artichoke dip with generous layer of cheese on top.
Relish Special Sisig
Of course, one cannot leave without trying their best-selling Relish Special Sisig (P275). Relish’s version of this sizzling Pinoy bar chow has the perfect balance of creaminess and crunchiness. The onions add a bit of kick but you can request more freshly chopped chili if you want your sisig spicy.
Another must-try is the Relish Roasted Chicken (P395). It’s chicken marinated in garlic cloves, oregano, and infused with lemon. Best paired with garlic mashed potato, this dish is flavorful and succulent—easily one of the crowd favorites.
But there's also the Relish Fried Chicken (P395). One order comes with house gravy, herb-butter rice, and corn as side dish. Each bite is a great combination of tender, tasty, and crispy, with a moist and juicy inside.
Creamy Garlic Shrimp
Fish and Chips
Looking for pasta? Try the Creamy Garlic Shrimp (P365) with a light blend of olive oil, minced garlic and fresh herbs. Pescatarians can go for the Fish and Chips (P395). It’s one of the best we’ve tried so far—moist, succulent fish and light, grease-free batter.
Have a satisfying finish to your meal with the Molten Lava Cake (P195). The irresistable pairing of chocolate and the mint ice cream will provide a nice closing note.
