10 Quezon City Restaurants With Great Steaks Under P500
Nice to meat you.
(SPOT.ph) As the most populous city in the country, it’s no wonder that Quezon City has tons of restaurants with different cuisines. The so-called City of Stars is laid-back and packed with affordable food places for those who prefer to spend their cash practically. Keep scrolling to read more on the most talked-about restaurants in QC that have P500-and-under steaks for the frugal foodie.
Steak to One
Served with two sides and a choice of mushroom and pepper gravy or chimichurri, the meat selection at Steak to One definitely wins. The restaurant is located inside Quezon Memorial Circle and may be the biggest temptation for afternoon joggers due to their hearty dishes. (Warning: They're not meant for those watching their diets!) The best part: their meals are also fit for those with tightened purse strings. For less than P300, you could get the Filet Mignon (P280), Porterhouse (P280), T-Bone (P165), or Ribeye (P260).
Also try: Crispy Tadyang (P320)
Steak to One is at Quezon Memorial Circle, Diliman, Quezon City.
Red Baron Ribs & Steaks
Built beside a carwash, Red Baron Ribs & Steaks may be one of Banawe’s best-kept secrets if you’re craving American fare. Apart from offering all-day breakfast (which also deserves a thumbs up), the chophouse serves honest-to-goodness steak in all its glory. We suggest you order the Ribeye (P329), a scrumptious half-inch slab of tender beef, and pick any among their three rubs: Zesty Mediterranean, Honey Garlic, and Old English. Meanwhile, their Crunchy Flauta Steak (P473) is a pure Australian Meltique striploin that does not require any rub whatsoever due to its natural, fatty flavor. Red Baron Ribs & Steaks also has another branch in Sta. Cruz, Manila.
Also try: Smoked Baby Back Ribs (P295)
Red Baron Ribs & Steaks is at 143 D. Tuazon corner Calamba Street, Lourdes, Banawe, Quezon City.
Ribs and Steaks by Darya
Ribs and Steaks by Darya is one of the few go-to steak restaurants for people living in this part of town. For Blue Ridge’s long-time residents, they may remember Darya as a humble Persian restaurant along the stretch of Katipunan extension. Now, not only does it serve Middle Eastern flavors, but it has also added ribs and steaks to the menu! Try the Premium Steak (P350) for a satisfying, carnivorous meal. If you want to go cheaper, the T-Bone (P170) and Porterhouse (P195) are likewise good options.
Also try: Kebab Platter (P250)
Ribs and Steaks by Darya is at Katipunan Avenue corner Sunriser’s Street, Blue Ridge, Quezon City.
Once situated along a less-popular lane of Teachers Village, Empire Steak has moved to Maginhawa Street, getting them more foot traffic and well-deserved attention. For only P250, visitors get the chance to taste its Solo Steak (which earned a place on SPOT's Top 10 list) a nice slice of rib-eye with sautéed vegetables, rice, and gravy.
Also try: Yankee Salpicao (P199)
Empire Steak is at 154 Maginhawa Street, Teachers Village, Quezon City.
At first glance, Snackaroo may look like your average carinderia, with an al fresco dining area and plastic chairs, kitschy orange walls, and turo-turo corner where you can choose from a buffet of Filipino viands. We wouldn’t categorize the restaurant’s steaks under average, however, and Snackaroo loyalists will understand why. The place has been around way before the concept of cheap steak became popular and it’s mostly because of its best-sellers: the T-Bone (P160) and Porterhouse (P160) steaks, which are best eaten with their signature gravy and a dash of Worcestershire. These classics are grilled over hot coal, resulting in a perfectly charred outer layer and a succulent center.
Also try: Sisig Snackaroo (P85)
Snackaroo is at Judge Jimenez corner K-2nd Street, Kamuning, Quezon City.
Although steak isn’t the main star at Gudo, its signature T-Bone (P185) has won raves among regulars. The flame-grilled meat has a melt-in-your-mouth texture that even non-steak fans will enjoy. Pair it with Gudo’s creamy gravy and you’ve just rewarded yourself with a meal that awakens your tastebuds thanks to the complementing flavors. Recently, the restaurant opened its second branch along Holy Spirit Drive in Quezon City.
Also try: Peri-Peri Chicken (P135)
Gudo is at 17 Congressional Avenue Extension, Barangay Pasong Tamo, Quezon City; and 64 EK Building, Holy Spirit Drive, Don Enrique Heights, Barangay Holy Spirit, Quezon City.
Brickfire is a favorite among many students in the Katipunan area for its classic steak selection and budget-friendly price points. Following the success of this branch, the restaurant expanded to SM North EDSA. The SPOT-approved Cowgirl Annie (P164/220 grams) is a tangy, sweet, and succulent T-Bone that comes with a cup of rice (or mashed potato) and vegetables. The Duke (P275), on the other hand, is a premium tenderloin strip that’s marinated only with salt and pepper, coaxing out bold, straightforward flavor.
Also try: Chopper (oven-baked pork chop) (P109)
Brickfire is at 2/F Xavier Residence Building, Rosa Alvero corner Esteban Abada Street, Loyola Heights, Quezon City; and UG/F SM City North EDSA, The Annex, North Avenue corner EDSA, Quezon City.
Grills & Sizzles
It's been under the radar probably since they opened in 2001, but we’re uncovering the reasons people keep on going back to this steak hub located in the West Triangle neighborhood. Grill & Sizzles is daring enough to offer unlimited steak for less than P500 and you know you’re in good hands if a note on the menu reads: “Chef recommends medium doneness.” Because who likes overdone steak? If you’re not up for the belly-bursting challenge, you might as well sample their à la carte steak menu that includes a Porterhouse (P419), Ribeye (P309), and T-Bone (P409).
Also try: Grilled Salmon Steak (P349)
Grills & Sizzles is at 57 Examiner Street, West Triangle, Quezon City.
QC residents no longer have to go to Kapitolyo for Chubs Chasers, as the no-frills steak destination now has a branch on Visayas Avenue Extension. From spicy Buffalo wings to simple -silog meals, the restaurant is home to some luscious and affordable steaks like the Sexy Sirloin Steak (P239) and Chubby T-Bone (P399). There’s no room for discrimination here as we love all (steak) shapes and sizes.
Also try: Tanigue Steak (P259)
Chubs Chasers is at 86 Visayas Avenue Extension, Tandang Sora, Quezon City.
If you’re strapped for cash, Griddle in Maginhawa offers one of the cheapest steaks in the Metro. With its cozy interiors and food that feels like your mom’s cooking, the restaurant is famous for its steak and wings selection, thus the name. The Griddle Steak (P180) is a thick-cut T-bone with a sinful yet addicting trimming of beef fat on the edges that’s charred just right. The meal comes with a side of corn and carrots, rice, as well as their distinctive peppery gravy.
