Exclusive: A Look at Corner Market, Manila's Newest Food Hall

We can't wait to eat here!

( Food halls and food courts seem to have been around since the first mall appeared (which, tbh, seems like eons ago). While these dining hubs have become quite commonplace, this doesn't mean they aren't open to innovation, and who can't help but feel excited whenever someone decides to shake things up a bit? Case in point: Corner Market, scheduled to open in December 2017 at The Podium's new wing, and it isn't quite like the usual food-court setup.

Linfred Yap, managing partner at the Relish Group of Companies (who will be behind this new food hub), describes Corner Market as "an indoor farmer's market" where diners not only get to order ready-to-eat meals but also buy fresh produce that they can then have cooked on the spot. "We'll have a butcher concept for example," shares Linfred, "where diners can control the weight and the cut of the meat they want for their steak."

Aside from the Butcher, Corner Market will also have a Produce Vendor, where diners can get fresh fruits and vegetables, which can be turned into salads, and wraps, and the Charcuterie for smoked meats.

Of course, Corner Market will also have food merchants offering ready-to-eat meals: The plan is to have around 19 merchants to choose from, offering a wide variety of cuisines from Spanish and Mexican to Vietnamese, Japanese, and of course, Filipino. Linfred shares that they're still open to getting more food stalls, and are especially on the lookout for young, rising food entrepreneurs. (For fried chicken fans, Relish's Birdhouse will be here!)

Birdhouse's chicken sandwich is crazily crunchy.

All these will be in a space with clean lines and plenty of natural light, designed by DDC Architectural Studios (led by architect Denise De Castro). Linfred shares that the hall will have a "modern home" feel. We're already loving the floor-to-ceiling windows—perfect for flatlays!

Corner Market will be at The Podium, 18 ADB Avenue, Ortigas Center, Mandaluyong City. For inquiries, e-mail
