Elait's Rolled Ice Cream Is the Stuff of Dairy Dreams

Sweet treats are made of these, who are we to disagree?

(SPOT.ph) Here’s a whole new level of wordplay—"elate," as in "elated," meaning uncontrollable joy, and "lait," French for "milk." Pretty dang clever, and not only in terms of the name; this isn't just any old ice cream.

Artisanal rolled ice cream has been a big thing around these parts lately, but Elait is, in many ways, a step above. Locally and ethically sourced, it's made from the best ingredients our beautiful country has to offer. Plus it's as much about the visuals as it is about the taste—and that's exactly what you share with the people who make it behind the counter.

Elait is very much pro-inclusivity, actively supporting the Philippine Deaf Community by having deaf partners. For your convenience and theirs, there is an easily accessible guide on how to order in sign language—so you learn something new in the process!

"It's not just about reaching out," says marketing manager Aaron Corpuz, "but really [normalizing it]. It makes a huge difference." COO Francis Reyes agrees: "A little effort on our part makes them really happy. You'd be surprised how talkative deaf people can be, how much they have to say. We should actually learn to keep up with them!" he adds with a laugh.

But it's understandable—not everyone is about to drag their butts over for a good cause, which is why it's also important to point out that this stuff is made of dairy dreams. It's dairy royalty, even. The Princess Dairy, if you will. (Sorry, Anne Hathaway.)

Strawberry Trifle

They have all the usual suspects—chocolate, ube, et ceterabut they've also got some amazing gastronomic adventures that await just behind that counter. We love the Strawberry Trifle (P180/cup) because it's everything you shouldn't put in your body, plus some fruit to "balance it out." Or that's what we told ourselves as we shoveled it into our mouths, paying absolutely no heed to the inevitable brain freeze. Fresh strawberries on strawberry yogurt, because why not, plus cream cheese, lady fingers (broas), and strawberry drizzle...do yourself a favor and head there immediately.
