Mango Sriracha Burgers Will Be Your Next Burger Obsession

BRGR: The Burger Project spices things up with new Designer Burgers.

( In bustling food district Maginhawa in Quezon City, restaurants have a tendency to come and go. So when a place like BRGR: The Burger Project manages to survive for close to 10 years, you know it's not just all hype.


BRGR: The Burger Project, helmed by Chef Ed Bugia and PJ Lanot, has always been known for letting diners customize everything from the buns and patties, to toppings and even the sauces. Things have been known to get pretty wild—Chef Ed shares he once saw a diner pile on all the cheeses on his burger; another used all the spicy toppings and sauces she could get her hands on.

Still, given how long they’ve been in the food biz, a little change was inevitable. “When we created The Burger Project in 2010, people actually [took] time to fill up the [order sheet]. That [has really been] the charm of Burger Project ever since: They fill it up and no one ordered the premade ones, the Designer Burgers,” says Chef Ed. “Now, you know how faster society is now. Everyone wants instant na di ba, everything automatic. So now we saw a need na we had to make more Designer Burgers.”

Pulled Pork Burger


Their new Designer Burgers were created by mixing and matching add-ons and sauces that were already on the menu. The Mango Sriracha Chicken (P225), you could say, is the burger version of their Mango Sriracha Wings, with their special mango Sriracha sauce and garlic cream cheese on top of a chicken patty with lettuce and onion strings for crunch, all stuffed between potato buns. If you’ve never had mango Sriracha, it’s genius: The ripe sweetness of the mango balances out the sour-spicy Sriracha for an addicting flavor combo. Another new Designer Burger is the Pulled Pork Burger (P315), made extra meaty with tender pulled pork on top of a beef patty. Pepper jack cheese adds an extra smoky dimension.





Just in case you missed it, BRGR: The Burger Project also has a BFF Box to their menu, where you can get four burgers and fries served in a tray that’ll probably remind you of a certain California-based burger joint. But make no mistake: BRGR: The Burger Project has always been about doing their own thing, and producing excellent burgers along the way. As Chef Ed puts it: “I went to L.A. a few years ago, to the hottest burger place there, and they said 'You know what our bestseller is here? Sweet potato fries with wasabi mayo.' Eh ang tagal na naming may ganun eh!” With the creativity that abounds at this classic Maginhawa burger joint, we’re sure they’ll continue to be trailblazers for many more years to come.
