You'll Ditch Your Usual Breakfast After Steak and Eggs at Nono's

Nono's introduces new all-day breakfast meals and more.

(SPOT.ph) The perfect breakfast meal away from home has the comfort only home-cooking can provide, but is also a notch above your usual. After all, you should only have the best on those rare occasions when you finally have the time to savor breakfast. Chef Baba Ibazeta-Benedicto has shown that she can whip up food she describes as “elevated familiar food” and she showcases the same skill with the new all-day breakfast dishes at Nono’s.

 

Bacon & Eggs

 

It doesn’t get more familiar than Bacon & Eggs (P325), which is also the go-to breakfast of Chef Baba’s husband. Her version doesn’t stray far from the classic but every element is done perfectly: the eggs are creamy and rich, the bacon crisp with just the right amount of saltiness, and the bread, baked in-house, is buttery and toasted to be crisp-at-the-edges but still pillow-soft.

 

Pepito Steak & Eggs

 

If you want something heavier, the Pepito Steak & Eggs (P475) is right up your alley. For those already familiar with the menu at Nono’s, it’s the rice-meal version of Pepito’s Sliders. You get the same tender USDA steak cooked medium-rare, its garlic flavor amplified further by the garlic rice and garlic oil. Still, it doesn’t get too overpowering—just the right amount of spiciness to cut through the indulgent steak and eggs.

 

Truffle Cream Pasta

 

Pan Roasted Sole Fillet With Lemon & Roasted Garlic

 

Aside from the new breakfast dishes, Chef Baba has two more new offerings: the Truffle Cream Pasta (P355), whose no-frills appearance belies an intense umami richness from the truffle and cream; and the Pan Roasted Sole Fillet With Lemon & Roasted Garlic (P475). Chef Baba calls the sole fillet dish “the light dish” on a menu of heavier, more decadent dishes, and while it is indeed light, the flavors are incredibly complex. You’ll want to have the herby dill dressing on your sole fillet, which already has a hint of zest from lemon. Rubbing some of the roasted garlic on the perfectly cooked fish just caps off the medley of flavors.

 

Chef Baba promises that she isn’t done adding to the menu and hints that it might get a full revamp come December. One thing’s for sure: There are always new reasons to come back to Nono’s.
