Kumori's New Snack Will Remind You of the Mamon You Used to Have in Your Lunchbox
Perfect for your next coffee break.
(SPOT.ph) If your memories of grade school recess involve snacking on cheese cupcakes and mamon, you’ll enjoy this grown-up version from Japanese bakery Kumori. New to the bakery’s line of cheese tarts and other pastries is the Salted Cheese Yakigashi (P510/box of six).
Yakigashi means “baked sweets” in Japanese, and this yakigashi is a butter pound cake with a crust of toasted Parmesan cheese on top. The sweet-salty combination works incredibly well, and the cheese gives the cake an extra rich and creamy dimension, with the subtle crunch of the crust adding an enjoyable contrast. A slice or two of this would pair well with a cup of coffee. Snack, anyone?
