This Man Created the Country's Hottest Club For the Love of Chili

( They don't call him Lakay Labuyo for nothing. The nickname literally translates to "old man chili," and it couldn't be more apt for Labuyo 100 founder Larry "Nixon" Cariño. To join the group, aspiring members must eat 100 chili pods in one sitting. Call it crazy, but this underground chili challenge has been happening for over two years now. Experts say that chilis aid in digestion and are a rich source of antioxidants. Cariño, though, believes it's so much more than that as the fiery red fruit (yes, it is, in fact, a fruit) is also good for the heart—so good that it saved his life.
