Say Goodbye to S&R's Unlimited Soda

(SPOT.ph) A new year always brings with it new changes. If you need soda with your pizza every time you eat at S&R, here's one that might make you feel a little bummed out: starting January 2018, S&R Membership Shopping will no longer be serving unlimited soda.

According to a notice posted in one of S&R's branches, the change is due to "the tax reform law," or the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) law signed by President Rodrigo Duterte on December 19, 2017. With the TRAIN law, sweetened beverages will now carry an additional P6 tax per liter for drinks with caloric and non-caloric sweeteners, and P12 tax per liter for drinks with high fructose syrup, which could be the reasoning behind S&R's sudden measure.
