Chibo Okonomiyaki's New Rice Bowls Are a Workday Treat You Deserve
The unagi is a must-try!

(SPOT.ph) It took Osaka-based franchise Chibo Okonomiyaki almost two years to open their second Philippine branch, but good things do take time. And anyone who has had their wonderfully rich okonomiyaki with the signature sweet sauce knows they are well worth the wait.
Though the Chibo Okonomiyaki at the newly renovated Podium keeps the sleek Asian-inspired look of their predecessor, one notable change is the lack of the teppanyaki tables—a design choice that's also a nod to the faster dining habits of Ortigas regulars, many of whom work in the nearby offices.
Just because the office hustle requires you to eat a little quicker doesn’t mean you can’t treat yourself to an excellent Japanese meal. Together with the opening of their newest branch, Chibo Okonomiyaki also launched Japanese set meals that are not only filling, but are also so indulgent, they’ll make you feel like royalty.
U.S. Angus Steak Ju
Unagi Kabayaki Ju
The new Premium Executive Set Meals all come with rice topped with your chosen protein, plus creamy potato salad, miso soup, and their house-blend iced tea. There are four kinds of rice bowls available: The Pork Ju (P488) comes with succulent pork belly slices cooked in a shoyu wine sauce together with spinach and onions, while the U.S. Angus Steak Ju (P788) has U.S. prime Angus steak strips in a garlic-ginger wine sauce, with caramelized onions for extra crunch and sweetness. Seafood lovers will enjoy the Mixed Seafood Ju (P688), fresh and garlicky with smoky Norwegian salmon, fresh squid and tiger prawns, and butter-soft scallops. Or you could go beyond the usual with the Unagi Kabayaki Ju (P888), silky Japanese eel marinated in a sweet sake-and-dark-soy-sauce glaze that gives the eel a lip-smacking, barbecue-like flavor.
Cheese Hamburger Steak With Teriyaki Sauce
Equally sumptuous are their hamburger steak meals. Each hamburger steak, made with a blend of ground pork and beef mixed with panko, is more than an inch thick. With their hefty size, you’re getting value for your buck. In the Hamburger Steak With Teriyaki Sauce (P488), the full-bodied smokiness of the barbecue glaze that blankets your juicy steak shines, but for something extra rich, have the Cheese Hamburger Steak With Teriyaki Sauce (P588). Cut into your patty and get melted cheese that oozes out, and makes each bite a little more indulgent.
But if there’s anything you shouldn’t miss at Chibo Okonomiyaki, it is, of course, their signature okonomiyaki. The Osaka Meal (P588) gets you a half-portion of okonomiyaki and a half-portion of yakisoba. It’s almost a given that the okonomiyaki here is divine: Savory, melt-in-your-mouth rich, and the perfect complement to the yakisoba, which is smoky from being stir-fried. And with the complimentary rice, potato salad, and soup, you’ve got yourself a winning lunch.
A good meal can turn any bad day around, or make a good one even greater, and if you need that extra pick-me-up in the middle of a busy work day, Chibo Okonomiyaki is always a reliable pick.
