Bring a book!

(SPOT.ph) There are three things that make up a great café—amazing coffee, tasty eats, and, of course, a relaxing ambience. For your café-loving heart, we’ve made it a mission to scour the Metro for all the noteworthy coffee joints, but this time we’ve set our sights all the way down south. Keep your eyes peeled for these awesome coffee shops that make sweet hangouts in Alabang and Parañaque.

Need Coffee

Just from the name itself, you know that Need Coffee understands very well that you, well, need coffee to fuel your day. So if it’s coffee you want, it’s coffee you’ll get—each cup here is a product of freshly roasted beans. A great place to start is their Batch Brew (P80), or specialty coffee with a hint of fruity flavors made first thing in the morning. Enjoy their take on classics like the Latte (P160) and Iced Americano (P140), but don’t leave without trying something from their dessert menu, like the Salted Egg Brazo de Mercedes (P170) or Banana Crisp Cake (P160)!

This homey joint will make you feel like you’re having an outdoor picnic with all their pretty flowers and elegant décor, which all just begs to be put on your social-media grid. Their menu is all shades of IG-worthy, too! The café’s house favorites include a classic Four Cheese Pizza (P235) that’s sprinkled with just the right balance of your favorite cheeses like mozzarella and cheddar. But if you’re there to get your coffee fix, you can’t go wrong with a no-fail Cappuccino (P105), which we’d totally pair with their not-too-sweet Mocha Sans Rival (P235).

If you’re looking for something other than your usual brew, you might want to try their Espresso Milkshake (P200) or even their S’Mores Mocha (P175), a blend of espresso, Malagos dark chocolate, with frothed milk and a fluffy layer of burnt marshmallows. The unanimous favorite about 81 Café and Bistro? Their homey meals that will remind you of your mother’s cooking. Their Adobong Puti (P275) is a crowd favorite, especially for anyone who likes their pork adobo cooked in a lot of garlic. Their Pork Sisig (P250), on the other hand, will leave you dreaming of the next time you can try it again. And something for dessert? Magnum Opus Fine Coffees

Just in case you haven’t heard, Magnum Opus serves some of the best grilled sandwiches in this side of Metro Manila. Their Monte Cristo (P250) oozes with cheese, and it’s topped with generous servings of ham and chicken. Don’t forget to have each bite with clotted cream and their homemade jam served on the side. Meanwhile, we wouldn’t mind having it with a soothing cup of their best-selling Belgian Heartbreak (P175), made with a mix of mocha, steamed milk, rich chocolate, and that punch of caffeine care of a shot of espresso.

Their drinks menu is pretty impressive, covering more than just the basics, including all-time favorites like frappes and milkshakes. We’re in love at the thought of having a Chocolate Chip Frappe (P170) in this humid weather, and you’ve got plenty of dishes to choose from, too. If you’re looking for something light, have the savory Sardines Pesto Sandwich (P190). With Bowen 24’s all-around dishes and beverages, there’s no shortage of options for you to munch on here!
